Helium Scanners

Previous version Helium Polish 5 (build 5.1.15) contains some critical errors, find their description below. We have fixed the errors urgently and offer to download and use new version Helium Polish 5.2 beta (build 5.2.2.1).

We apologize for inconvenience.

Please pay attention that this is a beta version of program. It is published to fix errors. Now we are working on new version of Helium Polish.

Helium Polish 5.2 beta (build 5.2.2.1) is an update of Helium Polish 5 (build 5.1.15).
Helium Polish 5.2.2.1 beta is released in October 22, 2010. It is available for download in October 29, 2010.

  • Fixed bugs

Fixed bugs

Missing data in step cuts

Fourth values of Crown height, Pavilion height and Girdle thickness were missed for some step cuts. This bug is fixed.

Wrong Width value for Pear type cuttings

There was wrong calculation of Width value for Pears, and wrong calculation of values Girdle ratio, Total height % and others correspondent parameters in percents. This bug is fixed.

Changes in new version

Changed names of some new pictures and parameters for girdle asymmetry

Please use new names and bookmarks:

New names:

Actual Length axis asymmetry
Actual Width axis asymmetry
Length axis symmetry correction
Width axis symmetry correction
Both axes symmetry correction

Instead of old names:

Girdle length-wise asymmetry
Girdle width-wise asymmetry
Length-wise girdle asymmetry removal
Width-wise girdle asymmetry removal
All round girdle asymmetry removal

Please see new names on the screenshot below:

The pictures show real Girdle Length-wise and Width-wise asymmetry, recommendation for Lenght-wise, Width-wise asymmetry and All round girdle asymmetry removal and Girdle asymmetry plot.

1) Pictures Girdle Length-wise asymmetry and Lenght-wise asymmetry removal

Picture Girdle Length-wise asymmetry show real asymmetry.
Picture Lenght-wise asymmetry removal show recommendation for asymmetry removing by length only. In this picture new symmetry axis is calculated.

The blue and red half-round lines show what part of stone need to grind off to get symmetry diamond - you should grind off stone parts between blue and red half-round lines.

1) For example,

if blue half-round line is outer and red half-round line is inner

you should grind off left side of stone, if you see from pavilion side*.

2) For example,

if red half-round line is outer and blue half-round line is inner

you should grind off right side of stone, if you see from pavilion side.

The numerical values show that mass and area will be loss after grind off:

For left picture Girdle Length-wise asymmetry: if you grind off stone and make it symmetry you will loss 3,29 % area and 0,67 % mass.
For right picture Lenght-wise asymmetry removal: if you grind off stone and make it symmetry you will loss 1,92 % area and 0,26 % mass.

After grid off stone by this way you will get symmetry stone by Length only, but the stone will not symmetry by Width. So we recommend to use method All-round girdle asymmetry removing. Read about All-round girdle asymmetry removing in the section below.

*you might need to smooth shape of girdle after grind off.

2) Pictures Girdle Width-wise asymmetry and Width-wise asymmetry removal

Picture Girdle Width-wise asymmetry shows real asymmetry.
Picture Width-wise asymmetry removal shows recommendation for asymmetry removing by width only.

Read description in the section above Girdle Length-wise asymmetry and Lenght-wise asymmetry removal.

3) Picture All round girdle asymmetry removal
Picture All round girdle asymmetry removal shows real recommendation of how to create a diamond with ideal symmetry - diamond with symmetry by Length and by Width together.

Red enclosed line shows future ideal symmetry diamond, blue enclosed line shows real diamond.
If you like get ideal symmetry stone - you should grind off parts between blue and red lines. You will loss 2,40 % area and 0,32 % mass in this example, but get ideal symmetry diamond.

4) Girdle asymmetry plot

There are also Girdle asymmetry plot with addition representation of real asymmetry and recommendations of its removing.

The solid green and blue lines show real asymmetry. The dashed greenblue and red lines show: asymmetry with new symmetry axes calculated by software and area should be grind off to make stone symmetry.

Conclusions

So, you can study all three recommendation of removing asymmetry:

  • Length-wise
  • Width-wise
  • All round

and then decide that variant to select for removing asymmetry.

Illustrated report for marquise and oval

Please note, now we have special new Illustrated report for marquise and oval and universal Illustrated report for round fancies for pear, heart and all type of round fancies.

The special illustrated one page report for marquise and oval also contain pictures with real Girdle lenght-wise asymmetry, real Girdle width-wise asymmetry and recommendation for removing all round asymmetry.

All pictures contains numerical values of area loss and mass loss.

Example of new special Illustrated reports for marquise:

Illustrated report for marquise PDF

Illustrated report for rounded fancies

For cutting, like pear with one girdle axis, one picture Length-wise girdle asymmetry is available only. Also this picture can be used as recommendation for assymetry removing.

Example of Illustrated report for pear:

Illustrated report for pear PDF

Illustrated report for cushion

For cuttings like cushion and radiants we suggest recommendation for all-round girdle asymmetry removal:
